GDPR compliance checkbox while leaving a review
Hello. I hope you guys are ready for GDPR! I know it's been insane getting our store in order.
The GDPR states that all data from any EU resident accessing or using Judge.me via our website, or anywhere for that matter, must have a checkbox where the user gives consent to both ours and your use of their review data.
This is required for every single review, and in many other places throughout an e-commerce site. My question is I'm wondering if there are plans to add such a checkbox and if so when that might be?
We love the service, but we might need to find another solution if this isn't possible, and we don't want to do that!
Thanks,
-Brianna

Moderator AdminHi Brianna, thanks for reaching out! GDPR sets new standards for the broad field of 'Consent'. Here is Recital 32 from the GDPR that is usually referenced: http://www.privacy-regulation.eu/en/recital-32-GDPR.htm These stricter definitions of consent make it more difficult for Email Marketing activities when it comes to building an email list or using email addresses for email marketing, because the user must know that their personal data is indeed used for marketing purposes.

Moderator AdminWe have internally discussed the idea of adding check boxes but we currently don't consider them necessary for our use case. GDPR indeed suggests 'ticking check boxes' but also allows for other 'clear affirmative actions'. In the Judge.me case, for your customers, the web reviews is a single-purpose processing of data. There is no up-sell, newsletter or other marketing involved. The context makes it very clear that the personal data provided will be used only once and for this review only.

Moderator AdminHowever, we are very interested in the ideas and concerns of our Judge.me users and we can of course consider adding such a check box in the futures. We will leave this feature suggestion open for comments :)
